Mentor Program

The mentor program was established to design a positive, productive, hands-on learning environment for future Latinx generations by achieving success through leadership, opportunity, and responsibility.

OBJECTIVE

The program’s objective is to provide a conduit for young, goal-driven Latino’s between the ages of 18 and 24 to become successful business and civic leaders by establishing mentoring relationships between them and successful Hispanic professionals within the Hispanic 100 organization.

Mentor Program Co-Chairs

The Mentor Program was established to assure that our upcoming Hispanic youth are provided with opportunities to achieve their dreams and to successfully prepare them to become positive, productive contributors within their communities.

The Hispanic 100 is committed to helping our mentees:

  • Develop a positive mindset
  • Build personal confidence
  • Utilize strategic advice and encouragement
  • Obtain real-life experience
  • Better themselves as individuals
  • Establish personal goals & implement ways of successfully achieving those goals
  • Make a difference within their communities
Requirements

The relationship between mentee and mentor should ultimately be one that is based upon guidance, support, and encouragement. While there are some specific requirements (stated below), each mentor should evaluate the individual needs of their mentee and strategize a best effort to assist their mentee in establishing and achieving their personal, academic, philanthropic, and professional goals.

Each mentor will be required to do the following:

  • Meet for a minimum of four (4) hours per month
  • Identify personal goals
  • Implement effective strategies for achieving those goals
  • Allow mentees to attend special events with their mentors (as available/applicable to their individual goals)
  • Be available for support, guidance, and encouragement as necessary
Workshops

The Mentor Program will host monthly topic-based workshops that all mentees will be required to attend in order to graduate from our program. These workshops will be developed in a strategic manner, and will highlight CORE strengthening objectives in areas such as finance, education, leadership, business etiquette, resume writing, sales & marketing, business development, etc. A calendar of dates and topics will be published and circulated at the beginning of each new calendar class.

Program Requirements

Each 1st year mentee must complete the following program requirements in order to graduate from our program, receive their certificate of completion, and be awarded their $1,000 scholarship: 1) Successfully attend a minimum of six (6) monthly topic-based workshops, 2) Complete their Mentee Workbook and SMART Goal Setting Worksheets, 3) Meet with their mentor for a minimum of 4 hours per month, and 4) Volunteer/participate in a minimum of four (4) community service events hosted by Hispanic 100. Mentee must have approval from Michelle Rose for any excused absence in advance of the workshop.

Scholarships

Hispanic 100 Foundation scholarships will be awarded to all 1st year mentees that successfully meet all program requirements. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Hispanic 100 Foundation’s Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Gala, and scholarships will be distributed the week following our annual gala. Each mentee must complete a scholarship application if they wish to participate/apply for any Hispanic 100 Foundation scholarships. Completed applications must be submitted directly to Michelle Rose at michelle@hispanic100.org
